The head-turning, jaw-dropping Great Big Idaho® Potato Truck is back on the road for its third consecutive cross-country tour with a new message for women: Take care of your heart! The five-month long, 2014 Big Idaho® Potato Truck Tour kicked off in Boise, Idaho with waves, cheers, and hugs from the students of Riverside Elementary School and salutes from soldiers at the Air Force Base in Mountain Home.

Two Big Idaho® Potatoes Ring in the New Year

As the saying goes “we grow ‘em big in Idaho” and that’s no joke. On New Year’s Eve, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) was a sponsor of the inaugural New Year’s Eve Idaho® Potato Drop in downtown Boise, ID. The Great Big Idaho® Potato Truck, Spuddy Buddy and 40,000 revelers rang in 2014 as a 17-foot long glowing potato was lowered from a crane into the crowd as the countdown to midnight began.

The Great Big Idaho® Potato Truck Rolls into Atlanta

As part of its cross-country tour, the Great Big Idaho® Potato Truck spent a few days enjoying the southern hospitality in Atlanta, Ga. One of its first stops was the Atlanta Food Truck Park on 1850 Howell Mill Road. Lunchtime visitors had an opportunity to view this “spudtacular” vehicle and four local Meals On Wheels agencies received a total of 350,000 servings of Idahoan Mashed Potatoes, ready-to-serve, dehydrated potato products.

U.S. Senators from Idaho Welcome Great Big Idaho® Potato Truck to the Nation's Capitol

The U.S. Senators from Idaho, James E. Risch and Mike Crapo, today joined the President and CEO of the IPC, Frank Muir, to welcome the Great Big Idaho® Potato Truck when it rolled into Washington, D.C. for a special appearance in front of the the U.S. Capitol Building. In celebration of the mid-point of the truck’s seven-month cross country tour, to mark the IPC’s milestone 75th Anniversary, Senators Risch and Crapo joined Muir to present a $100,000 check from the IPC to Enid A. Borden, the President and CEO of Meals On Wheels Association of America.
