There has been a change to the upcoming process for selecting the nominees for openings on the Idaho Potato Commission. The ballot by mail process we had hoped to use will not be available this year. Instead, the process we have traditionally used, which is to hold nomination meetings, will be implemented.
There are three openings on the IPC:
At this time, there is legislation pending in the Idaho Legislature that amends the existing definitions of Grower and Shipper in IPC’s statute. The Processor definition is not substantively amended. If the new legislation is in effect at the time of these meetings, the new definitions will be used at these meetings. We will keep the industry updated on the status of the legislation over the next few weeks.
These meetings will be in-person meetings. Text message voting will not be allowed. Proxy and Absentee voting will continue to not be allowed. Upon arrival at the meeting, those wishing to make nominations or to vote will check in to receive the required forms to participate in the meeting. Further information on the process will be provided, along with updates on the progress of the legislation, as we are closer to the meeting date of March 28, 2019. Should you have questions regarding this, please feel free to contact Patrick Kole at the IPC office at 208-514-4208 or by email at patrick.kole@potato.idaho.gov.
