Us potato pros in Idaho have learned that there are some major do’s and don'ts when it comes to grilling Idaho® potatoes. There are a few important tips to keep in mind.
- When prepping your potato wedges for the grill, either put them on the BBQ right away or place them in a bowl of chilled water mixed with a splash of lemon juice. When spuds are exposed to air for too long, they turn grey. They’ll still taste great, but don't look so pretty.
- The key to grilling potatoes is to cook them all the way through before grilling. Otherwise, it takes forever for them to cook and you run the risk of them drying out before being done. Parboil ahead of time and then rewarm and add a little char on the grill.
- Trying to bake a large potato on the grill may take over an hour. Instead, pre-bake the potato in the microwave and finish it off in the BBQ.
Now it’s time to fire up your grill and try one of our delicious grilled Idaho® potato recipes below.
