Hasselback

In addition to being a great recipe resource, we pride ourselves in being a “go to” source for all things potato-related. For instance, contrary to what most people believe, ‘Hasselback’ is actually a type of potato dish not a variety of potato. Per Wikipedia, Hasselback potatoes were created in 1953 by Leif Elisson from Värmland, who was trainee chef at restaurant Hasselbacken on Djurgården in Stockholm. Pretty interesting, huh?

Hasselback potatoes are incredibly simple to make and absolutely mouth watering when they’re done! All it takes are a few medium sized Idaho® potatoes that are thinly sliced (about halfway to the bottom) across their entire length. The potatoes should look like a fan when you’re finished cutting them. Season the spuds with your favorite toppings like butter, garlic, fresh herbs, or sliced almonds and bake at 400°F for about one hour. So simple, and so delicious!
