Educational Program Offers Families an Opportunity to Win $100

EAGLE, Idaho, May 16, 2013—The Idaho Potato Commission’s (IPC) five-month-long Smashed Spuddy Buddy program is quickly coming to a close with all submissions due by June 30. The IPC launched Smashed Spuddy with the help of Idaho’s First Lady, Lori Otter, as an educational and interactive program designed to help teach kids about the nutritional benefits of Idaho® potatoes.

Parents and/or teachers of students in grades 1-3 who would like to participate in the program can visit the “Just for Kids” section on www.idahopotato.com. Once on the page, click on the Smashed Spuddy Buddy program where an educational video, “How a Potato Grows,” can be downloaded as well as a black-and-white drawing of Spuddy Buddy, the IPC’s mascot.

Kids are encouraged to color Spuddy Buddy and, with the help of a parent, take a photo of him somewhere in their home, community, church or anywhere in the world! Parents who upload the photo to the contest site before June 30, 2013 will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes to win one of 75 $100 American Express gift cards.
