Mary Hasenoehrl, Grower (District 3)
Mary Hasenoehrl works with her husband, Doug Gross, on a vertically integrated potato farm near Wilder, ID. She is a partner on a dry land farm in northern Idaho, where the major crop is native grass seed, and is also a partner in Clearwater Seed, a cleaning, blending and wholesale grass seed company. She believes there is no better profession than providing a safe, reliable food source for the world, while protecting our land for future generations.
Mary started her career in agriculture at a young age in Midvale, ID, bottle feeding an orphaned lamb. Before graduating from high school, her flock had increased to over 70 Suffolk sheep. While in high school she was active in Future Farmers of America and served as an Idaho state FFA officer. Mary earned a degree in respiratory therapy, but after four years in that field she returned to agriculture.
Mary and Doug enjoy snow skiing in the winter and riding bicycles in the summer. They have even been known to ride bicycles around the farm to check on potato fields. They have 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren.
