Brett Jensen, Grower (District 1)
Brett Jensen learned the art of growing Russet Burbank potatoes for the fresh and processing market from his father, Wayne Jensen. He then started farming on his own in 1994 after attending Rick’s College in Rexburg, ID, and Utah State University in Logan, UT. Brett also grows wheat, malt barley, barley seed, alfalfa and corn. Jensen started with around 150 acres and now farms over 13,000 acres in the Idaho Falls-Hamer area.
Jensen enjoys serving the industry and as held many positions in the past. He served for 7 years on the Potatoes USA Board and was Chairman in 2014 He also serves on the United Potato Growers of Idaho Board and the National Potato Council.
Jensen’s wife is Kristy, and they have five children—Jace (age 23), Rylee (age 20), Brayden (age 17), Karson (age 15) and Bella (age 8). Jensen likes to spend time hunting, fishing and traveling with Kristy. They also enjoy participating with their children’s basketball, softball and football teams. Brett played basketball when he was in high school and was part of the 1989 5A state championship team.
