The French Fries At Mc Donald’s Are My Favorites, What Variety Of Potato Do They Use?

Q:

The French Fries at Mc Donald’s are my favorites, what variety of potato do they use?

A:

McDonald’s relies mostly on the Russet Burbank variety for the great tasting fries with a unique crunch and texture. However, this variety is hard to grow as high a percentage of No. 1 grade potatoes, uses more water in the growing season than some other russets and is always being reviewed for other options in breeding, production and processing. They now have seven varieties approved, the latest two are the Clearwater Russet and Blazer Russet.
